In exporting data from a dataset viewer, you may follow the steps provided below:
- Open the dataset.
- Select the time series you need.
- Choose the format you want to export that data to.
You will be redirected to the Download status page, displaying the status of your data download.
You may get to the dataset viewer from a search or by browsing topics, sources, or regions.
No matter how you got to the dataset, once you have made a selection, you may export visualizations or download the selected subset of data using buttons in the Tools panel on the right.
You can export your visualization to Powerpoint (1), Excel (2), PDF (3), or as an image (4).
Visualizations with timelines, such as maps, ranking, pie or donut charts, treemap, or bubble charts, will be downloaded as animated GIFs if you select image export and uncheck Insert static images instead of live charts.
If you want to download data without a visualization, you can download it in XLSX (5) or CSV (6) format.
Once processing is complete, click the Download button. If the selection you made is large, you may need to export it in batches. We recommend using CSV (instead of Excel) for large data downloads. It may take time to download. In such a case, you may not wait until the end of the process and close the tab. A link will be sent to your inbox once the download is complete.
No matter which dataset you use, the data will be downloaded in the same uniform format and include all the metadata available in the dataset - this is the difference between downloading data and exporting a visualization.
If you download data from a different dataset to use them in a given table, you can match countries by their Region IDs. While country names may vary from dataset to dataset, RegionID remains consistent.
