On Knoema, you can discover data through search, browsing datasets by topics, industries, sources, or locations, or using links in footnotes in visualizations.
Search is the quickest way to find data if you know what query to use to find the data you're looking for. Browsing data is useful if you do not know the exact query to use, or if you want to understand the scope of the data available on a particular topic, industry, source, country, or region.
To browse datasets by topics, countries, or sources, click the corresponding button in the Data Quick Access panel at the top of the home page.
You can access this list from any place of the site by hovering over 'Data' in the site header.
If you don't see the topic you need at the home page or in the 'Data' menu, select 'More Topics'.
You can select from one of the featured topics or browse through the full alphabetical list of topics. Navigate through this list using filters or linked letters. Industries are available in the same list.
The number in brackets next to the topic name indicates the number of datasets available for this topic.
Within a selected topic you can browse the dataset by sources or view in an alphabetical list.
Datasets can also be browsed by industries, sources, countries, and regions.
If you want to know what datasets are available for a particular region of a country:
- Go to country profiles,
- Select a country, for example, China
- Go to “Provinces”
- Select a province, for example, “Gansu”
- Switch to “Datasets” or “Sources"
