How to export a dashboard into JSON file?
To export a dashboard into JSON file, open a dashboard and click More actions > Get JSON.
As a result, the dashboard will be downloaded as a JSON file which can then be imported to any Data Hub.
Exporting a dashboard in a JSON file is helpful when you want to have a backup version of a dashboard before making changes so that you can revert them back.
How to import a dashboard from JSON file?
Once you have exported a dashboard into JSON file, you can import it back to a Data Hub. To import a dashboard from JSON file:
- Open either an existing dashboard or create a new one.
- Edit the dashboard and click Import from json.
- Select a file and click Open.
- Once the import is finished, you'll see import report and a link to the imported dashboard. Click Go to page to proceed to the dashboard.
Note: For the import to be successful, all the datasets used in the imported dashboard should be available in the Data Hub. In case some datasets are not available, you may see empty charts in a dashboard after import.
Importing a dashboard from a JSON file is helpful when you have a backup version of a dashboard in a file and want to upload this version to a dashboard. It is also helpful when you need to create several similar dashboards from a template. In this case a JSON file of a dashboard can be used as a template.
