Verification of a dataset provides you a measure of protection between the previous and the new version of a dataset. Other admins or authorized editors will receive a notification that the dataset is pending verification and the assigned individual will have an opportunity to review and approve the updates before the dataset is available in the data catalog and search for all users.
Note: Only admins/portal managers can verify datasets.
To submit your data for verification:
- Open the dataset that you want to send for verification.
- Click More Actions menu.
- Click Submit for verification.
Note: at a minimum, you must enter the dataset name, source, reference URL, and publication date. The other fields are optional but advisable to include, if possible. After you enter all the details and Submit for Verification, the dataset will be in 'Verification Pending' mode. The authorized person(s) will receive an email notification to review the data and approve or reject the dataset.
- If approved, the status will change to ‘Verified’ and you will receive a verification-success email.
- If rejected, the status will change to ‘Not verified’ and you will receive a verification-rejected email detailing the reasons the dataset was rejected. You may correct the errors and resubmit the dataset using the same upload and verification process.
Note: some actions will revert a dataset to 'Unverified' status automatically, including after editing certain metadata fields, such as Source. You must then resubmit the dataset for verification.
