Yes! There are two ways:
Option 1. You can create segments of your original dataset and each segment will be available only to a specific group of users.
Note: Creating segments makes sense only for private datasets. All data within a 'public' dataset is available to approved users of your system.
To add a segment to a dataset:
- Open your dataset and select More actions > Add segment.
- A modal window will open from which you will first name the segment.
-
Next select the group of users who will be able to work with this segment of the dataset.
Note: If you select 'Content roles' the complete list of roles existing on your portal will be shown. If you do not have roles for groups of users on your system and are interested in using them, contact your Knoema representative.
-
After you save the segment, you will be able to access this segment and any other from the More Actions menu. The link to a segment is available only to the owner or editors of the dataset. General users will open the dataset and only see the segment they have been permissioned to.
Note: The link to a segment is intended only for editing it (changing the name or access group) or for deleting it.
Option 2. You can create dataset Publication. It will be a separate dataset with another Dataset ID, but updates of this dataset will be synchronized with Parent dataset.
Note: this option accessible only for regular datasets with Time dimension AND this dataset should be uploaded directly to your system.
To add a Publication to a dataset:
- Open your dataset and select More actions > Publication.
-
You will be redirected to Dataset Publication window:
You need to follow steps described. You can change sunset, to publish only part of the dataset. Or you can publish the whole dataset too.
Note: URL usually is the same to your system URL.
Once publication will be finished, you'll be able to reach published dataset by dataset link.
